“Wheels of the World” @ Meridian Elementary School

On behalf of the staff of Meridian Elementary School, I would like to thank Dr. Miyashiro, Tamara Otero, and Assistant Principal Long for visiting our campus on Tuesday, January 10th, 2017. During the visit, we observed students participating in the “Wheels of the World”, which is our elective wheel. Students are exposed to the World of Code, the World of Design, the World of Robotics, and the World of Work, while our teachers have time for grade level collaboration and instructional design.

Our focus for the second half of the school year is presentation literacy for all students. Meridian teachers are collaborating to integrate TED Ed presentation literacy lessons into ELA, Social Studies, and Science for our TK-5th grade students. Our goal is to connect students’ passions to rich, contextual learning experiences inside and outside of the classroom. Our students will use these experiences to develop their own ideas worth spreading. It has been an exciting year so far, and we look forward to all of the learning opportunities ahead of us!
