At the Language Academy we collectively endeavor to foster a culture of learning!

The Bostonia Language Academy opened its doors for the first time on August 17, 2015, to a community of learners with an interest in becoming multilingual, multi-literate and multicultural. With 375 students enrolled and 15 teachers, our school is small and impactful, with invaluable opportunities for students and their families throughout the day.

A day in the school life of our students begins with breakfast in the classroom during Advisory time. Advisory time is dedicated to teaching about Character Education traits that are key to current student success, lifelong learning, and effective participation in society. Shortly thereafter, a fun and engaging part of their day known as International Languages begins. During International Languages, students experience English and Spanish language development through a number of adaptive curriculums. Receiving rich language instruction and using language to engage in interaction are two of the primary goals of this period of time.

Specialized teachers at every grade level plan for instruction that is informed by assessment data. Throughout the day, the Literacy, Mathematics, World Studies, and Computer Science teachers rotate from classroom to classroom to enhance and implement California Common Core Standards-based lessons. It is through these carefully crafted learning experiences that the six C’s (Communication, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Creativity, Culture, and Connectivity) become an integral part of the Language Academy’s curriculum. At our school, we provide a Blended Learning environment as a platform in which adaptive programs and small group teaching opportunities individualize the instructional plan for our scholars. Multicultural Education at the Language Academy is an instructional component that supports the creation of a safe, accepting and successful learning environment for all students. Increased awareness of global issues, strengthening cultural consciousness, and teaching students that there are multiple historical perspectives are three core strands of this component.
